Jason Coveney appointed as Council Commissioner - White Pine

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Jason Coveney as Council Commissioner for
White Pine Council effective immediately.
Jason’s leadership skills started when he was a Cub Scout. His Akela noticed his leadership
potential early and encouraged him to be a Sixer for the White Six. That experience which started
with Scouts made a lasting impression on him so he returned years later as a Beaver Scouter. He
then took on several roles including Akela, Group Committee and DAC for Growth. He helped
organize and run large area and council events, including as an OOS for CJ ’13. It is worth noting
that he has first-hand experience on how to successfully start a group from scratch. Most recently,
he is the Area Commissioner for Algonquinte Area. He has a Wood Badge I in all sections, and a
Wood Badge II in Colony and Pack.
As a professional manager, he leads a team of 150 IT professionals around the globe. His long list
of successes required astute skills in project and people management, a passion for growth and
the courage to innovate. He is a strong believer in team work. Jason has a diverse educational
background in agricultural engineering technology, business administration and chemical
engineering technology.
Jason is replacing Victor Woodburne who is serving as the Interim Council Commissioner. We’d
like to thank Victor for his service and please join us in welcoming Jason as a member of the
National Service Team. He can be reached at jason.coveney@scouts.ca.
Yours in Scouting,
John A. Estrella, PhD, CMC, PMP
