Scoutrees Partner with Sears Stores Apr 16th & 23rd

As many of you know, Scouts Canada and Sears Canada have partnered together since 2009 to promote Scouts Canada’s environmental initiatives through a point of sale program that supports Scouts Canada’s Scoutrees Program as well as allowing local Groups to promote Scouting and fundraise in Sears Stores.

This year will mark the 8th year running that Sears and Scouts Canada have partnered for a two-week period in the spring. From April 14th-27th, 2016 cashiers at Sears stores across Canada will be asking customers to make a $1 donation to support Scouts Canada. These funds will help us to deliver our Scoutrees Program to Groups across the country.

The event will be promoted by Sears through in-store signage, PA announcements and in-store flyers. A joint social media campaign between Sears and Scouts Canada will also serve to raise awareness about both the event and Scouts Canada’s many environmental programs.

On Saturday April 16th and Saturday April 23rd, Sears will invite local Groups from across Canada into their stores to set up informative Scouting/Scoutrees displays and at the same time, local Groups will have the opportunity to collect donations from Sears customers. Scouts should use this time as an opportunity to showcase Scouting activities and programs, promote the organization and fundraise.

Last year, the average Group raised $300 with many Groups raising over $750! The events also provided a great opportunity to promote our Scouting programs across Canada.

Scouting Groups will take the money they raise with them and will not leave it at the Sears store. This will allow you to have your donated funds immediately. Area and the Event coordinators will be responsible this year to liaise with their local Scouts to place Groups in Sears stores.

Please see the attached list of Sears stores with their contact information (categorized by Council) and the EcoScouts Toolkit. Participating Groups should
