Head Safe Event - Peterborough Oct. 19th

10/19/2019 (All day)

Save the date . . . details to be announced

As you may have seen in the media recently, there is a new joint venture program between HydroOne and Scouts Canada called "Head Safe".  Our new project coordinator Kris Joseph is responsible for launching this exciting partnership by the fall of 2019.  The Head Safe program will provide Ontario communities with training and educational materials aimed at preventing head injury, with engaging digital resources also  available for Canadians from coast to coast to coast. Part of this program is Head Safe Training Events. We will be running six events in Ontario this October.

  These events will include:

  ·         trail card activity stations

  ·         free lunch

  ·         will require pre-registration

  ·         aiming to have 100 participants out for  each event

  ·         from 8 am to 2 pm(which would include set-up and take down), running the event activities.

We will be running an event for general community members on October 19th in Peterborough. The location of the event is still to be confirmed and Kris is currently working out the rest of the logistics for the event. We will have a trainer on hand for each event but we will be looking to our Scouting community members to support us in a volunteer capacity to ensure the success of the event.  At this point, it is believed we will require approximately 15 volunteers to properly execute this event.  This will be a great opportunity to not only bring awareness of head safety to your community but will also allow you to show non-Scouting members what Scouts Canada has to offer.

Once a location has been confirmed, we will be sure to be in touch to discuss more details with you.

Should you wish to volunteer on this team and coordinate directly with Kris, please let us know and we shall compile a list for submission.

Yours in Scouting,

Jeff W. Sauve, csp

Interim White Pine Council Commissioner
